Sister of My Heart by Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni

Good story. Well written. Interesting to learn about Indian cusoms and traditions. My only complaint–there should be a glossary. Some words could be understood only in their context. Others not. A glossary would add to the reader’s enjoyment. Cherry Hill Library Patron MG

The Glister by John Burnside

I have no idea what this book is about. I think it is some kind of psychological thriller, but it made no sense to me. I probably should have returned it midway, but I’m an optimist and always think a book will get better. It didn’t. Cherry Hill Library Patron MG

My Father’s Paradise by Ariel Sabar

Fascinating bio of the author’s father, who was born in Kurdistan (Iraq). Brought to Israel at 13 with no schooling, he went on to become a professor of Middle Eastern Studies at UCLA. Hard to get into, but worth it. Cherry Hill Library Patron MG

What Came Before He Shot Her by Elizabeth George

This is a well-written book about a sad subject. When three children are left with their aunt in the “other” side of London (rough North Kensington), they try to cope. They try to solve their problems without adult asistance; the results are horrifying. Cherry Hill Library Patron SF

A Place of Hiding by Elizabeth George

This story shows how differently people can see the same event or circumstance. What happens when someone does not get what they feel they are owed? Cherry Hill Library Patron SF

Dark of Night by Suzanne Brockmann

This is the most recent book in the Troubleshooters series. A must-read for readers of the series, but still enjoyable for those unfamiliar with the characters. The author combines secret government agencies, assassinations, and romance. Characters are believable with human insecurities as they save the world. Cherry Hill Library Patron SF

Dying to Meet You by Jennifer Apodaca

Excellent mystery, not “gory”–just light summer reading without the usual sexual approaches. Cherry Hill Library Patron MAB

Vodka Neat by Anna Blundy

Too much description-having been to Russia during the time of this book–there was nothing pleasant to describe. Cherry Hill Library Patron MAB

While My Sister Sleeps by Barbara Delinsky

Shows how people that make up a family are very definitely not what they seem to outsiders–they are really much more caring, but don’t always show it because of the way they were raised. Cherry Hill Library Patron MAB
